  Joshua had been Moses’ right-hand man before his death. Upon Moses’ death, God told Joshua: “Moses my servant is dead” and Joshua was to take the people of Israel across the Jordan River. Often, we focus on Joshua fighting the battle of Jericho, but we overlook an important detail. Don’t get me wrong, the way the people fought over the seven days was powerful and faith filled. I believe we should learn to fight our battles just like that. Often, we pray about something but then we try to accomplish it on our own strength instead of waiting for God to fight our battles for us. This could be part of the reason why we are not seeing any breakthroughs in our lives. In Joshua 3:5 he said, “ Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you”.   Before we dive into this question, who do you consider to be THE CHURCH? When you think of the church, do you think of a celebrity church, the building, the pastor of the church, or the people within the church? What do most people you know consider to be the church? What makes a building a church, in other words, what makes a church a church? Do you realize that the church is YOU? The building you enter for worship is just a building. It becomes a church when you gather with other believers to praise and worship God. So, if the church is you, then going to a building to worship in whatever given day should be an EXTENSION of what YOUR WORSHIP is in your private time with God. Some people might think that worship & reading of the Word only happens while you’re in “church” but it’s much more than that. Your worship to God comes from your personal time with Him.   I want to encourage you to stop fighting from a defeated mindset! The devil wants you to throw in the towel, quit, and surrender…BUT NOT TO GOD. The devil wants you to surrender APART FROM GOD. He is working overtime to push you to surrender on his own turf. See, when you throw him the towel that means you are stepping out of the fight. But please consider, WHERE are you throwing the towel (on what turf?) and to WHOM are you throwing the towel to? SELAH I get it, we all have difficult seasons/situations in our lives and sometimes our strength is zapped from fighting.   Light a Candle This time of the year is typically a joyous occasion for most of the world. We decorate our homes, offices, cars, etc. with holiday décor. We make time to join in holiday festivities such as Christmas plays, choirs, or orchestras. If you live up North, maybe you’re enjoying the snowy weather and looking forward to making snowmen, snow angels, sledding, ice skating, etc. We make our wish lists and fulfill others’ wish lists, and so on and so forth.   The busyness of the holidays can mask the fact that not everyone enjoys this time of year. For years, I found it difficult to understand why others would not enjoy Christmas like I did. Over the years, as I have grown, I came to the realization that not everyone can be truly joyous during the holidays for many reasons.
